*  Fingering suggestions - this is how I approach this piece (although play it any way you like of course).

** Artificial harmonic: Hold plectrum between thumb and middle finger, then play the 'G' harmonic using
the plectrum with the tip of your index finger while lightly touching the string halfway between the 17th fret
and the bridge. Release your index finger after picking the 'G' note and immediately bend it up a tone to 'A'.
This isn't necessarily how it was originally played but it sounds good to my ears.

[Additional Notes]

After looking at some of the comments for this piece under version 1, I thought I'd bring some (much needed)
clarity to the elusive 'magic note' that closes this piece of music...

'if u watch the video he is using a slide thingy' ...Sorry but I had to laugh at this one! Erm a) He's ACTING
and b) there's definitely no slide involved as he doesn't use the slide when he (Eugene Martone/The Kid aka
Ralph Macchio) PRETENDS to play this bit!

Some comments suggested using sweep picking and another one suggested tapping, the best way to tackle this
number is to use alternate picking.

As far as I know Steve Vai used a 24 fret Jackson to play this, and as I don't have a 24 fret guitar (or a
Floyd Rose to try pulling up on the whammy bar as someone else suggested), I'm not sure if the 'magic note'
is possible, certainly not by conventional means anyway. If it is, I would think that because of the high
pitch a harmonic would be the way forward. As the correct harmonic is not available on the open string, the
only way would be to pull up another harmonic to the correct pitch (as someone else suggested), or (again, as
someone else suggested) use a Digitech Whammy pedal ...my own prefered method is explained under the tab and
will save you the price of a 24 fret Floyd Rose 'shred machine' or a Whammy pedal!

As the last note and overdubbed harmony notes cannot physically be played on the guitar all at once (and I
personally always thought it sounded similar to a choir of Angels), then maybe the idea was that the
'magic note' was some kind of divine intervention ...at least that's what I thought the idea was. Remember
that Willie Brown gives 'the kid' a 'mojo', or 'Louisiana Voodoo charm' just before he gets up to play (to
save their souls). He says to 'the kid' "I'm giving you all the magic I got, the Louisiana Voodoo charm
...the winning boy's magic".

Although the film is very loosely based on the Robert Johnson legend, Steve Vai's character 'Jack Butler' is
not a million miles away from violin virtuoso Nicolò Paganini (1782-1840). Also known as 'the Devil's
Violinist', Paganini was the original 'rock star', a gambler and womaniser who grew his black hair long and
was rumoured to have sold his soul to the devil in exchange for supernatural ability on the violin. The piece
has elements of Paganinis' 'Caprice No.5' - a real test of virtuosity for any violinist or guitarist who has
the skill to play it, as he is generally acknowledged as the greatest virtuoso of all-time.
